Burlington, NJ
4 local businesses worth knowing
Burlington has been here since 1677. It served as the capital of West Jersey before there was a New Jersey, and you can still read that history walking High Street, where the rowhouses run down toward the Delaware and the old pharmacy at 301 hid people moving north on the Underground Railroad.
The city stayed small while everything around it spread out, and that works in your favor. Park once and you can cover a cheesesteak counter, a pizza shop, and a grill without moving the car. The riverfront promenade sits a block away when you want to walk it off. Most of these places have fed the same families for years and never bothered with a website, which is exactly why they are hard to find.
